The boys dropped their first pre-season match to Scrub Nation in a hard-fought battle under the scorching sun. Despite the disappointing result, there were plenty of positives to take from this back-and-forth encounter. The heat was relentless, but both teams battled through the conditions with plenty of energy and determination, creating a competitive match that featured constant action with both sides creating opportunities.
Our boys showed flashes of quality throughout the match, with encouraging passing combinations and solid defensive shape for large portions of the game. The work rate never dropped, even as the temperature became a factor, though Scrub Nation proved more clinical when it mattered most. Pre-season is about preparation, not results, and this match provided valuable experience as players shake off the rust and build match fitness.
With tryouts and the official season approaching, this setback serves as motivation for everyone to elevate their game. The coaching staff will review the game footage to identify areas for improvement while building on the positives. One loss doesn't define a season - it's all about how we respond and grow from here as we prepare for what's ahead.
